Tulleners Stoombootweg Amsterdam

Stoombootweg Amsterdam Noord

Stoombootweg Amsterdam Noord

In 1870 the Stoombootweg was the terminus of a ferry from Amsterdam. The name of the main street of the Kadoelen reminds us of the place where once the boat arrived to and from Amsterdam.
The site is separated from the road by a wide ditch. The ground floor of the existing house is build approximately one meter above ground level. The expansion, a slight steel constuction with curved trusses, is connected to the existing house without contact with the soggy ground. At the rear, the foundation of the existing building had to be repaired. The volumes are pushed into each other for this purpose; a new building part with an existing roof (1992).
